I wish I didn’t say that…
After practicing for 20 years there were many times where I snapped at a staff person. At the time I was like, “How could they not know what to say to that new patient on the phone?”
I remember very clearly when I had a special program going that charged me $50 every time a qualified lead called. During this time there were moments that my staff would answer the phone and simply say, “No we don’t” and then hang up.
I would ask, “Who was that?” To which they would reply, “They wanted to know if we take their insurance.” Then I would snap.
Looking back at those moments I now realize it was my fault. I did not properly train my staff. I would get frustrated all the time, but until I saw where I could change my procedures to train staff properly, I was at the mercy of poor training.
